Summary
The CounterCAT is a patented modular coffee and tea (CAT) preparation tray. It features several unique characteristics to transform your morning routine.
-
The main tray has multiple compartments, the top being wide enough to house a small spoon and the bottom two for accessories like cream, sugar, or lemon slices for tea.
-
There is an ergonomic handle in the back of the tray that makes for easy lifting.
-
The coasters are detachable and have lips for easy sliding and grooves to prevent the cup from sticking to it. There is also a slight overlap between the coaster and main tray so any liquid that falls between them won't end up on the counter.
-
The ABS' glossy finish is stain resistant.

My Role

This project started when my dad asked for a simpler, cleaner, and more organized solution to setting up his morning coffee than paper towels or plates.

I came up with many potential concepts for the item, sketching out scale models and 3D printing the ones my dad liked. After about 14 versions, we went to a product designer, who helped us redesign the product for injection molding. After some minor alterations, we reached the product below.

From this process, I gained firsthand experienced of bringing a product from conceptualization to reality.
